Publisher review:
TinkerTool allows easy access to hidden settings in Mac OS X. Stable and updated, it offers more settings specific to Snow Leopard, iTunes 10, QuickTime X and Safari. Changes affect a user account at a time and do not affect the system as a whole. Also, the risk of corrupting the system is limited, since it is extremely simple to restore the default settings.

TinkerTool simply provides access to features that are already there via an intuitive and user friendly interface. The adjustments will reflect only on the user account running TinkerTool.

The set advanced preferences are divided between 10 tabs themes. Menu, you will discover many possibilities among others:

  • Finder: Show hidden files and system, disable sound effects, add "Exit" menu in Finder.
  • Dock Exposé Disable Dock, Dock block change, add a battery for recent items.
  • General: choose between 11 formats screenshot, change the destination folder for screenshots, disable Dashboard .
  • Applications: manage notifications when applications crash, add the eject button in the menu bar.
  • Snow Leopard: Spotlight Limit, do not display the contents of the attachments in Mail, allow half-star ranking in iTunes, listen to songs while importing or converting, send system shortcuts when screen sharing, not not require the use for backups with Time Machine to connect new disks.
  • Fonts: Change system fonts, applications, messages or even the title bar.
  • Font smoothing: Disable smoothing, managing the quality of smoothing as the screen.
  • Login Items: manage applications running at startup system.
  • Safari: Disable native support for viewing PDFs, advanced management history.
